Rev. Toney was born and raised in Milwaukee Wisconsin to the parents of Elijah and Mary Toney. He is married to Patricia Toney and is blessed to have four beautiful children, Jason, LaTai, Ronald D., and Erika. Rev. Toney is a Cum Laude graduate from Morehouse College Atlanta Georgia, with B.A. Degree in Religion. He has attended the Interdenominational Theological Center and the Columbia Theological Seminary, both of Atlanta Georgia. Rev. Toney received his calling into the ministry in 1976 and preached his initial sermon at Greater Galilee Baptist Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, pastored by Rev. Fred Caruthers. He served as assistant pastor at Damascus Baptist Church in Milwaukee Wisconsin, pastored by Rev. M.F. Shackleford. And served as associate minister at Antioch Baptist Church in Atlanta Georgia, pastored by Dr. Cameron Alexander. He served as assistant pastor at Damascus Baptist Church in Milwaukee Wisconsin, pastored by Rev. Toney began his first pastorate in 1985 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Thomson Georgia. In addition to his pastoral responsibilities, he was involved in several community organizations. He served as chaplain for the McDuffie County Hospital, President of the McDuffie County Health Coalition, President of the McDuffie County NAACP, and President of the McDuffie County Ministerial Association.

Rev. Toney was also involved in religious and denominational work in the area. He served as Tenth District Youth Coordinator, President of the Tenth District Congress of Christian Education, instructor in the Congress of Christian Education of the General Missionary Baptist Convention of GA (GMBC), and in 1998 he was appointed as the Foreign Mission Coordinator of the GMBC.

In 1993 Rev. Toney accepted a call from Lizzie Chapel Baptist Church in Macon, Georgia to become their fifth pastor. In addition to his pastoral responsibilities he has served on several boards in the community, Bibb County Citizens Advocacy, Crisis Line and Safe House of Central Georgia, Family Counseling Center, Bibb County Economic Opportunity Council; and Vice President of Partnering for Humanity.

He has founded the following nonprofit organizations to extend the church’s reach into the community: MANNA (Ministry Addressing Neighborhood Needs Abundantly), and HELP (Haitian Empowerment of Life Project). Manna Ministries is a CHDO (Community Housing Development Organization) that has built several houses in the Bartlett Crossing community.

HELP has worked closely with the Foreign Mission Department of the General Missionary Baptist Convention in its sponsorship and support of a small community in Tapio, Haiti raising funds for the work and sponsoring annual trips to Haiti.

Rev. Toney has continued to lead the church in her denominational work.  The church’s denominational affiliations are Union Baptist Missionary and Educational Association (UBMEA), the General Missionary Baptist Convention of GA (GMBC), and the National Baptist Convention, USA Incorporated (NBCUSA).

He has four lovely children, Jason Lawson, LaTai Brown, Ronald D. Toney and Erika Kennedy.
